An Intimate Evening of Ambient & Downtempo World Fusion Music
Sonic Haven™
Join us Sunday, September 20th at Leaven Community Center for the first Sonic Haven—an intimate evening of ambient, downtempo, electronic, and world-influenced music inside a beautiful little neighborhood church in Northeast Portland.
Sonic Haven is envisioned as a different kind of concert series: warm, immersive, unhurried, and centered around deep listening and connection. No bar, no nightclub—just a beautiful room, exceptional artists, and an evening to disappear into sound.
Opening the evening is The Sunray Project ft. Mohammad Firoozi. The Sunray Project is the electronic project of Jason McKenzie, drummer and founding member of Austin’s seven-time “Best of Austin World Music Band” award-winning ensemble Atash.
For more than a decade, Atash brought together master musicians from Iran, India, West Africa, Mexico, France, and the United States, weaving strings, percussion, electronics, and vocals into music that moves between the deeply trance-inducing and the irresistibly rhythmic. The Sunray Project brings that spirit into a more intimate, electronic setting, with Mohammad Firoozi joining for this special performance.
Headlining the evening is Portland composer, cellist, and electronic artist Rena Jones, performing an intimate live set featuring music from her new album, Love Letters, alongside selections from her catalog.
This is a no-alcohol event, all ages, and all are welcome
